Work has finished on phase 1 of Mackenzie Crescent. This part of the scheme of 14 houses includes 4 homes for rent through HHP and 10 were sold under the Scottish Government’s Shared Equity Scheme.

The semi-detached properties range in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms. They were built to the highest standards featuring very high levels of insulation, central heating systems with air source heat pump technology to assist in tackling tenants’ energy costs. The construction of the houses will be undertaken by local building firm Calmax Construction.

The £3.6 million development has been funded by Scottish Government Grant, HHP’s own resources and support from Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar.

The naming of the scheme was carried out following consultations with local community groups and it was agreed to keep the historical connection to the Mackenzie family who farmed this land.
