Making our house your home

Blackwater Phase 1 Handover

We are very pleased that 33 homes at An Allt Dubh were handed over to tenants during the past week. This is the first phase of a 74 house development being built by Calmax Construction Limited who contended with a very wet and challenging summer to bring this phase of construction to completion.

This was a joint project with TIG enabling 12 homes to be built, 8 for rent and 4 for rent to buy. Macinnes Bros Ltd, a Uist based company constructed these high-quality homes with the majority of funding coming from the Scottish Government. The Comhairle provided a grant of £130,000 from the ACTISH fund and the remainder was borrowed by HHP and TIG. As part of community benefit, MacInnes Bros provided £2,000 to the North Uist U12s girls Athletics team to participate in the National Finals in Glasgow in 2023.

Jens Johansen one of our new tenants expressed his gratitude: “The house and view are perfect, I’m so happy.”

Gordon MacLeod, Chairperson of HHP commented: “This first phase of 33 homes at An Allt Dubh is testament to the collaborative efforts with the Scottish Government who supported the development with funding of £9.5million. The exceptional quality of these homes is down to the skilled workmanship of Calmax Construction Limited and our shared commitment to community development. The milestone marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing quality homes and we look forward to the continued growth and positive impact this project will bring to the area.”

Thanks to Calmax for the aerial photos.
